Have Hope in God

August 29, 2019

|

Have you ever tried to have a conversation with someone who doesn't believe in God? It can be challenging, especially when you've invested so much time, thought, love and hope in what you believe. So much of the time it comes down to a matter of pride, being too proud and invested in an opinion to let the mind wander and consider there being any alternative. In the world we live in, people like to hold strong to their view and let relativism take it's course, youdo and think what's best for you and I will for me. It's not really the best tactic is it? If everyone believes in different things, where is the root of truth that we find through our faith? Today is a good time to start defending what you believe in, not just letting people brush you off. How are you holding true to your faith?

Today's Reading states:'In thee, O LORD, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame! In thy righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline thy ear to me, and save me! Be thou to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me, for thou art my rock and my fortress. Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man. For thou, O Lord, art my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth. Upon thee I have leaned from my birth; thou art he who took me from my mother's womb. My praise is continually of thee. My mouth will tell of thy righteous acts, of thy deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. O God, from my youth thou hast taught me, and I still proclaim thy wondrous deeds' (Psalms 71:1-6, 15, 17).

Today's reading talks about how we need to have hope in the Lord, and take refuge. If we don't find hope in God, the world seems chaotic, we feel as if there's a big piece of the puzzle missing, and things tend to fall apart on us. Especially in our world of changing values and beliefs, it's important to get back to the basics, always investing ourselves in our faith, always putting inthe time to challenge our own thought. This will help us continue to grow and remember why we are people of God. Take some time to pray and ask God to help you stay strongly invested in your faith.

   Today we pray:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for helping me to know You Lord. Help me continue to grow in my faith and invest myself daily in discovering more about Your love and will for my life.

I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
