Do we thank God for not knowing it all? Probably not often right? We tend to want to embrace life knowing what's next, to have every step in place, and even six steps ahead. I know for myself, I have pride in the fact that I always have my clothes, food, even homework organized days in advance. What gets to me most is the not knowing when applying for a job, or the anticipation for the quiz that's completely unknown. We are humans who continually seek knowledge, yearning to have complete understanding of past, present, and future, like God. However, this is never going to happen, being human, we are small-minded, no where near the understanding of God for the plan in place, but have the ability to piece things together. Do you embrace the challenge of not-knowing?
Today's Gospel states: 'At that time Jesus declared, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"' (Matthew 11:25-30).
In today's reading, we hear Jesus thank God for the hidden things, the goodness of His love and will by revealing them to us. Jesus asks God to take everything in him, and to help him find true grace, and understanding. It's Gods will, not our own. To think we have all the control would be unwise, a step away from being brought into God's grace. Take some time to ask God to help you to let go of control, and let His will be done in your life.
Today we pray:
Thank You for bringing me into this world of the unknown. Thank You for every opportunity to embrace life, to grow, and to learn more about what Your will is for my life. Help me to surrender to Your will and embrace everything ahead.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
