Use What You Have
What are your gifts and talents? For some of us, it's music, for others it's listening, for others speaking, or sports, creativity. There are so many different talents. You probably have a combination of several things. Whatever those gifts and talents may be, it feels really good when you have the opportunity to get out there and embrace them, sharing them with the world. For myself whenever given the opportunity to sing or to listen, I feel God using me to do good. God gives us all that we need inside to embrace this life to the fullest and really strive for the happiness that He wants us to have. We are called to use these gifts with those that we are given at Baptism, to be people of love, of faith, who bring others to faith. We are prepared with all that we've been given already. Are you ready to take the plunge and use your gifts for good?
Today's reading states: 'Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at that gate of the temple which is called Beautiful to ask alms of those who entered the temple. Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms. And Peter directed his gaze at him, with John, and said, "Look at us." And he fixed his attention upon them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, "I have no silver and gold, but I give you what I have; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." And he took him by the right hand and raised him up; and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up he stood and walked and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God, and recognized him as the one who sat for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him' (Acts 3:1-10).
Today's readings talks about how the disciples do not have silver or gold, but use the love and wisdom that Jesus gave them, to bring others into faith. We too are called to do the same, to evangelize and use the very gifts that we've been given to share God's love with the world. It all starts from within each of us. Take some time today to pray and ask God to help you to recognize and use your gifts to bring others to the faith.
Today we pray:
Thank You for making me in Your very image and likeness. Help me to recognize the gifts that You have given me and guide me in using them to help others know You. I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
