Let Your Light Shine
Let your light shine. Take some time today for Lectio Divina. Read this Gospel the first time, taking in what is happening. The second time, read through and pick out one or two phrases that stand out to you and hold them in your heart. The third time, read through and consider how God is speaking to you through this reading. Then take some time to pray and reflect.
Today's Gospel states: '"You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men. "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven' (Matthew 5:13-16).
Jesus tells us that we are the salt of the earth. If we lose our way, we lose that taste, becoming bitter. We lose our light, that makes us shine in dark times. With God, we are given hope, purpose, light. Take some time today to pray and ask God to help you become more and more the loving disciple He is calling you to be.
Today we pray:
Thank You for another day, another chance to seek You and listen for Your will in my life. Help guide me so that I may be a person of salt, a person of light for our world. I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
