How Can I Heal?
What does it mean to seek healing? At some point in each of our lives we need to find healing, be that from a physical injury or even a general situation. Whatever the case, you'll find that the healing will take time, small steps which lead to what is hopefully, complete healing. Even after you have given time for healing to occur, there will still be a mark on you from the experience, perhaps not visible to the naked eye, yet there nonetheless. For myself, having just had surgery, I can attest to the fact that healing really is a long and strenuous process, which requires patience and persistence. God helps us to find healing, and have the patience we need in order to find it, even though the memory may remain with us for life. In the same way that we need healing for physical and mental issues, each of us strive for healing of the soul, through repentance, confession and seeking forgiveness. Are there areas in your life that you still need to work towards finding healing?
Today's Gospel states: 'And a leper came to him beseeching him, and kneeling said to him, "If you will, you can make me clean." Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him, and said to him, "I will; be clean." And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. And he sternly charged him, and sent him away at once, and said to him, "See that you say nothing to any one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a proof to the people." But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in the country; and people came to him from every quarter' (Mark 1:40-45).
Today's reading talks about how God can bring us healing, encouraging us to talk freely and spread the good news. We all have those moments that we wish we could forget and move past. These are where we need to try to find healing, not looking to 'forgive and forget' as the saying goes, but to forgive and let healing come. We need to remember the moments that we were hurting and use them to help us do better int he further, to heal and live better lives. Take some time today and pray and ask God to help you find healing for the moments that are tearing you down.
Today we pray:
Thank You for sending us Your Son, a true representation of love to bring us redemption. Help me to find healing for moments that I've been hurting and to move past them in order to find true happiness in my life.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
