Ask For Aid
Do you take time to ask for help when you need it, or jump straight to giving up, grumbling about not being able to go forward? So much of the time we tend to stop and choose to grumble, filling our time with complaints instead of actively trying to find a solution. We fall to pride and find it extremely challenging to ask for aid. I've found in teaching especially, that if I don't take the time to ask for help and for clarification, then I lose out and tend to fall flat on my face. However, if I continue to ask questions, ask for help where I need it and involve those around me, things run so much smoother. God wants us to come to Him when we need aid, when we are looking for someone to help us (be that finding a treasured piece of jewelry that's been lost to making it through teaching a class). Do you ask God for help whenever you can, even if you feel you may not need it?
Today's Gospel states:'And he said to them, "Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, `Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; and he will answer from within, `Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything'? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him whatever he needs. And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"' (Luke 11:5-13).
Today's reading talks about how if we ask, we will get what we need. God tells us that we need to ask, we need to seek His aid and not give up hope. If we are too afraid to ask, then we tend to give up and lose out on what could be. God will help us t find what we need when we need it, even if things don't work out exactly as we had planned. After a long time searching for a house and countless attempts that did not lead to success, we continued to pray that God's will be done, one way or another. In the end, God came through (as He always does), and not in a way we had anticipated either. God is always on our side supporting us, even if it feels like things aren't going our way. Take some time today and pray that God will bring you what you need in His timing.
Today we pray:
Thank You for always watching over me and bringing me what I need. Help me to ask for what I truly need and trust that You will help bring me what I need by Your will and timing.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
