God, Give Me Strength
Have you ever had a day where all you wanted to do was crawl back into bed? Honestly, every Monday that passes feels like one of those days. When you face extremely long days that are pretty much every day, it can be a challenge to find motivation to get up and embrace the day joyfully. You may even have the occasional day where you choose not to face it at all, crawling back under the covers and letting time pass by. It can be especially challenging if you don't understand why you're doing things as you are, what your purpose for each passing second is. God calls us out of this gloomy perception of life, letting us see the joyful moments each and every day, even if we may be blinded to them at first. It's important to rise every morning ready and willing to embrace the life God has so graciously given. What are you waiting for?
Today's Reading states:'Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to thee do I cry all the day. Gladden the soul of thy servant, for to thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For thou, O Lord, art good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on thee. Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; hearken to my cry of supplication. All the nations thou hast made shall come and bow down before thee, O Lord, and shall glorify thy name. For thou art great and doest wondrous things, thou alone art God' (Psalms 86:3-6, 9-10).
Today's reading talks about how we need to depend on God to help us through when we feel worn. When life seems normal or even like things are moving way too fast day in and day out, it can be easy to want to call it quits and choose not to get up one morning. We are called as disciples to go out and spread the good news, yet how can we do this if we don't look at each day with an open mind and open heart? God calls us to live life joyfully, to embrace each day and prepare for everything He has in store for us. It just takes courage and willingness on our part to get out of bed. Take some time today to pray and ask God to help you rise with a joyful heart.
Today we pray:
Thank You for giving me the gift of life, with every moment drawing me closer to You. Help me when I feel worn and tried to get up and face the day with a joyful mind and heart, even if i may be tempted to lay back in bed.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
