Speak the Truth
In our law system, we are told that when we speak before the Jury, we are to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, swearing on the Bible. We swear to tell the truth, on the main truth that we believe is the truth that helps us best live our lives, the truth that we can really hope will bring good, bring light in the world. When you think about it, life feels so much better when we are people who tell the truth, who live by the truth that we believe in. For us, that truth is found in God, in the love and life He has given to us, and the chance to return to Him through Jesus, His Son. If we follow His will and really try to live a life of love, there will be no regrets. I gladly speak this truth, do you?
Today's Gospel states:'"I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you' (John 16:12-15).
Today's reading talks about how we are guided by the Spirit of truth. When we believe and truly put our trust in God's truth, we become ignited by the power of the Holy Spirit, giving us the hope, the drive, the desire, to speak God's truth to everyone we know. If we believe it and speak it, life feels so good, so enriched by love and joy. Take some time to pray and ask God to help you seek His truth and proclaim it to the world.
Today we pray:
Thank You for helping me to continue growing more in my faith. Help me to learn more about Your truth, through prayer, mass, reading Scripture, and let me speak Your truth to the world.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
