For a Just Cause

Do you ever do something for a just cause? Maybe you've participated in some of the student rallies recently over education and government decisions. Maybe you just really have a passion for something you believe in and want to speak out about it (I mean, that's where most blogs like this come from). The question is, what can be described as a good, just cause, and when have things just gone too far because people are open to an opinion. The case for abortion being one for example. I firmly believe that the only time it is acceptable ever is if there is an ectopic pregnancy, where the baby will not survive and the mother is being harmed, yes, the only time ever. However, people have shifted into defending their rights and want to habe their say. Doesn't seem to be a just cause does it? God calls all of us for fight for what we believe in, with love as the motivating factor, and as the end goal. Where in your life do you see people claiming a just cause that may need to be looked at again? Is God at the centre?

Today's Gospel states:'But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me; and you also are witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning."I have said all this to you to keep you from falling away. They will put you out of the synagogues; indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. And they will do this because they have not known the Father, nor me. But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you of them. "I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you' (John 15:26--16:4).

Today's reading talks about doing good in the name of God, in the name of your faith. What are some things you may participate in that are not really putting God at the centre, but more looking at human stubbornness to be different? Whenever we fight for something, it needs to be worth it, the cause needs to be for love, for truly seeking God's will. Are there some things that you defend that maybe it's time to reevaluate and possibly let go? Take some time to pray and ask God to help you always be fighting for a just cause, for love.

Today we pray:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for helping me to see You working in my life. Help me to always fight for Your cause, for what is good, right and focuses on love.

I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
