Peace Above Your Troubles
What ways do you strive to find peace? Do you take time to do some yoga in the day to relax your mind and body? Do you read a book, getting your mind wrapped up in a good story and giving your body time to rest? For me, even taking some quiet time just to sit outside or go for a short walk is refreshing, gives you time to think about everything in life. If we don't take time for rest, for quiet and reflection, our body never really gets the rest it needs to replenish and be ready for another day. God calls us to find time for rest, for peace, in order to take a step back from ourselves and really see where we're being called each day. Do you take the time to rest, to stop and take a breath?
Today's Gospel states:'Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, `I go away, and I will come to you.' If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place, you may believe. I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me; but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go hence' (John 14:27-31).
Today's reading talks about how we need to let our hearts be at peace and not be troubled by things of the world. You know how they say to never rush an important decision, but to take time to consider it, and how everything will come from this decision? In the same way, if we don't take a break in the day and reflect on the person we are becoming, on where God is leading us, we may fall of track, or even miss out on His calling because we're too busy and troubled by everything in our lives. Take some time to pray and ask God to help you take time for peace and reflection each day.
Today we pray:
Thank You for guiding me in every area of my life. Help me to take time for peace and quiet so that I can properly reflect on where You're leading me.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
