Speak Your Truth

Have you ever encountered someone who is speaking out about something they are passionate about? It could be a public speaker, someone protesting on the street, or a heated discussion between peers. Usually, it's someone who knows a lot about what they're talking about, they've put in the time and energy to do the research and they are prepared for any question you have for them. When it comes to this topic, you don't want to argue or you're gonna leave feeing either more confused or like you've lost some pride. This is the opposite of how God wants us to spread the news. We need to be humble and open to hearing criticism and hear the other side, and not trudge into religious discussion ready for a fight. We need to be firm in what we believe, but also considerate of perspectives others may have as well.

Today's Gospel states:'He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth belongs to the earth, and of the earth he speaks; he who comes from heaven is above all. He bears witness to what he has seen and heard, yet no one receives his testimony; he who receives his testimony sets his seal to this, that God is true. For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for it is not by measure that he gives the Spirit; the Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand. He who believes in the Son has eternal life; he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him' (John 3:31-36).

Today's reading talks about bearing witness to truth, to Jesus' testimony. Jesus makes it clear, those who don't bear witness to him and hear God's will shall not find eternal life. How we go about bringing this news, this knowledge to others needs to be different every time, unique for them, able yo reach their needs specifically. God calls us all to bear witness in our own way, through the gifts we're given, and not yammer on as if we're preaching to people all the time, but truly being open to an honest and heart-felt discussion about faith. How are you being called to preach the good news? Take some time to pray and ask God to help you reach others using your given gifts.

Today we pray:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for making me unique in Your image and likeness. Help me to use the gifts You've given me to deliver the Good News of Your love, in any way that I can.

I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
