Start Life Anew
Have you ever had the feeling that you just wanted to start over, live a new life, relocate to a new place and start fresh under a different name and different lifestyle? Sometimes the feeling of having a fresh start can make life feel more exciting, even if it's only through temporarily visiting a new place. I know for myself, whenever I travel, I love to get up early and go for a run, taking in more scenery and developing a general idea of where I am. It's always an exciting, and different experience each time. We are given this chance to be excited by our lives, and experience a new s NSE of life through Jesus, each time we go to confession, each time we experience a new sense of worship and prayer, each time we meet new people that we can go into conversation with about our faith. God wants us be moved by the Holy Spirit, and become excited by our lives in faith. Do you step up to experiencing these new starts?
Today's Gospel states:'Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicode'mus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him." Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicode'mus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, `You must be born anew.' The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know whence it comes or whither it goes; so it is with every one who is born of the Spirit"'(John 3:1-8).
Today's reading talks about how we need to go through Baptism and be reborn through the Spirit. Through new life in Jesus, we are cleansed of Original Sin, as well as our personal sin, being given a fresh start. We're human, and it can be hard to stay clean for very long, but we're asked to try. God loves us so much that He wants us to embrace our new given life, and be excited by the new starts we're given. Any chance you're given to talk to someone new about the love God has shown you, is worth it. Take some time to pray and ask God to help you embrace the fresh starts you get to live and love.
Today we pray:
Thank You for loving me so much, for helping me to become clean, and giving me the chance to start over. Help me to embrace this fresh start and be excited to share Your love to the world.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
