Nothing is Impossible
Do you believe in the impossible? Not the things that are typically what you envision as impossible either, like winning the lottery or becoming a big star. Those things would be nice, for a small time, but they're not what would make us feel complete, and definitely not what we would describe as impossible outcomes. When you think about everything that we read in scripture, from the splitting of the Red Sea, to feeding and the thousands, even healing the parallized, God shows us that even the things that we had though to be improbable, impossible, can be done when we trust in His will. Are there some challenges you're facing right now that feel impossible to tackle, to live on through and come out joyful on the other side? Remember that with God, nothing is impossible, and that we need to trust He is helping us through every second of our lives. The question then is, do you trust God to help you find the possibilities?
Today's Gospel states:'In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!"But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end." And Mary said to the angel, "How shall this be, since I have no husband?" And the angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible." And Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her' (Luke 1:26-38).
Today's reading talks about how with God, anything is possible, as proclaimed by Elizabeth. Elizabeth is preganant with a child at her old age, when she and Zecharriah had given up hope, and still God helped them face what most would deem as impossible. We may not have as many of the challenges that they faced back in the day, and yet some challenges may seem very similar. God does the impossible, and gives us everything, even to the point of new life through Jesus on the Cross. What in your life right now seems like a struggle that cannot be overcome? The answer should be nothing, for as long as you have faith, God will help you fight the impossible and help you see the countless possibilities ahead of you. Take some time to pray and ask God to help you trust Him to face the impossible challenges you face.
Today we pray:
Thank You for helping me to see the possibilities ahead in my life, despite the challenges that may be wearing me down right now. Help me to put my faith, my trust, my hope in You and guide me to face the impossible.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
