Nobody's Perfect!

Have you ever tried your very hardest to come out perfect doing something? Maybe you put all of your effort into an assignment, and yet only came out with an average grade. Perhaps you tried really hard to get that promotion, and yet your colleague did better. We try our hardest to be successful, and yet it doesn't always feel like we get the reward that we should. We get caught up in ourselves, and forget about the rest of the world. I know for myself, when it's busy with school and work, it's hard to take the time to look beside me and focus on living in the world, in the moment. God has created each of us to be a part of creation, to believe and better the world we live in, more than just focussing on our own success. When's the last time you made an effort to do your best by helping the whole of creation?

Today's Gospel states: 'And he said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover"' (Mark 16:15-18).

Today's reading talks about how we are called to preach the gospel to all of creation. It is our mission as God's people to always be trying to do better, to do more, to not give up.Looking back to Genesis, God makes Adam the overseer of all creation, naming the animals and all parts f creation. We too are made to be in union with one another, with the animals, the environment. We are called to be people of the world, that is the task we are to seek perfection in. Too often we are caught up in making ourselves better, the best, making the most money, getting the best grades. However, it's never really rewarding unless there's a benefit for the rest of the world as well. I always find that when I take time to help kids grow through teaching, spend time with family, share my music with as many people as I can, I feel like I've done good for the world, benefitting others around me and not solely myself. Take some time to pray and ask God to help you work towards helping the whole of creation.

Today we pray:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for making me a part of this wonderful world You created. Help me to show Your love to the whole of creation by focussing less on myself and more on helping those who need me most.

I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
