You Have a Purpose
Do you ever have those days where you feel like maybe you're not making that big of a difference in the world? Maybe you feel you're not impacting anyone in your life.Maybe you do the same routine each and every day, and it feels pointless, like you're not really getting anywhere. Think about a toolbox. Each and every piece of equipment has its special use. Some, like a hammer, can put a nail into a wall, and also take it out. Some tools can be used for multiple purposes, while others have one particular goal that they do best. When it comes to each individual person, some of us have multiple talents that make us shine, while others have that one ideal purpose, and we put in everything in order to achieve that one goal. God made each of us unique and special, even if we don't recognize our gifts right away. I'm sure if you asked a friend or a family member, they'd be able to say at least one things that makes you shine as an individual, and that would be that you are a child of God, made in His very image and likeness. If ever there's a time you feel down and like life isn't worth it, remember this one thing, and everything else will fall into place. What is your purpose? To love and be loved as a child of God; everything else comes second.
Today's Gospel states:'What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish' (Matthew 18:12-14).
Today's reading talks about how each and every unique person is important to God. God shepherds over us, keeping watch over every single person in His flock. If even one escapes, gets lead astray, turns away in defiance, God is always there, calling us home to Him, ready to shower us with love. In order to see our vale on earth, it's important to recognize the skills and special gifts that God gives to each of us, to help us shine as children of God. For me, it's being musical, having a way with words, and being a good listener. What are your gifts? Take some time to ask God to help you use your gifts and talents as His child, to bring His Word and Truth to the world.
Today we pray:
Thank You for creating me with gifts and talents as Your child. Help me to fulfill my purpose on earth, to seek You first, and to bring others into Your love through using the gifts You've given me.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
