Feel God's Grace
Have you ever recognized God's grace working within you? Where else do we hear the term grace? When saying meals right? It's another word for prayer, and thanks, yet reaches further than that. For believers, grace is given to us at baptism, being blessed and welcomed into the Church through initiation. We become cleansed, free from sin, and filled with the Holy Spirit. We are given this grace repeatedly, through reconciliation and receiving the Eucharist at mass. I know for myself, I can feel God's grace working primarily through me in my music, using my gifts, as well as through helping kids to grow through teaching. Where do you feel is God guiding you with grace?
Today's Gospel states:'In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!"But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end." And Mary said to the angel, "How shall this be, since I have no husband?" And the angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible." And Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her' (Luke 1:26-38).
Today's reading talks about Mary, being confronted by an angel and given God's Truth. The angel approaches her saying, "Hail full of grace, the Lord is with you". What greater gift than to know that God is not only present in her life, but actively working with her and through her to bring His love and fullness of grace to the world. God gives us this same gift of grace, of love, bit we need to constantly be working to seek God, to build relationships with Him and those around us. To work on building our spiritual lives in pray, evangelist actions, attending mass and being examples of love. Take dome time to thank God for His gift of grace.
Today we pray:
Thank You for bringing me into Your church, Your family, through baptism. Help me to feel Your Spirit, Your grace, Your love working in my life and help me to continually share this grace with those who need it most.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
