Your Grace is Enough
Do we make too many demands? Maybe you're like me and tend to like things done way in advance. This means assignments, present shopping, preparing for an interview needs to be done not only the night before, but at times days, even a week in advance. We all have different expectations of completing work, chores, anything that has a set limit and time expectation for completion. So, when we're paired with someone that has different expectations, perhaps not needing to get things done until the last minute, we become demanding, primarily wanting them to follow your expectations. In the same way, we try to make demands of God, trying to will things to happen in our time and planning. However, God works in mysterious ways, and as we all know and have experienced, God has a different plan than what we have set. It's time to heighten our faith expectations, giving God full reign to guide us by His grace, and His plan.
Today's reading states: 'Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I give thanks to God always for you because of the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him with all speech and all knowledge -- even as the testimony to Christ was confirmed among you -- so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ; who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord' (1 Corinthians 1:3-9).
Today's reading talks about God's grace, given to each and every one of us. God has blessed each and every one of us with grace hope and love, guiding us even when we feel lost. God not only comes to help us seek His love, but all people. It's time we lower our expectations of others, in order to help them at their level for seeking faith. We also need to learn to expect the unexpected with God's will for us, for God knows your whole life before you were even conceived. Take some time to ask God to help you expect the unexpected and welcome His plan for your life.
Today we pray:
Thank You for bringing me into this life, to seek You and bring others into Your love. Help me to expect the unexpected and be more open to Your will for my life, and also to lower my expectations of others, so to bring them into communion with You.
I pray this in Your most holy name, Amen.
