Follow God's Will at All Times

Do you do what's right only when you're being watched? We've all been under the watchful eye of the parent, the babysitter, the teacher. As soon as they leave the room, you take a chance to act out, do something that challenges the authority figure. In the same way, we don't consider God as an authority figure, always keeping watch over us. We lose that focus when we aren't at Mass or saying prayer, which is unfortunate. However, God is always with us, from the moment we speed on the road, to the moment of grief over a loved one. Living in a world of sin, we can often conform to ways of society and lose focus of how God wants us to live. What are you trying to hide from God?

Today's First Reading states:'Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for God is at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. Even if I am to be poured as a libation upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me' (Philippians 2:12-18).

Today's reading talks about how we need to do God's will not only in His presence, but in His absence as well. When we attend mass, we are in the fullness of God's love and grace. After leaving the church, we are sent with the blessing to go and spread the good news of God. In everything we do and say, God is guiding us, a Father and a friend to speak to in prayer. God is always with us. Take some time to reflect and ask God to guide you in everything you do.

Today we pray:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being my Father in faith, and always being with me. Help me to rely on Your love and aid in every action I take, and to make wise decisions in my daily life.

I pray this in Your most holy name, Amen.
