Strive for Sainthood
What does it mean to strive for Sainthood? For some it means replicating the life of Christ, the life of the Saints, even to the point of martyrdom, dying for one's faith. For others, it means living the best life you can, being a disciple in every way that you can, through your everyday life. For me, seeking Sainthood is not only my goal, but through marriage, it is part of my vocation for us to help one another be the best faith-driven version of ourselves, helping one another strive for Sainthood. For me, it's attending mass whenever I can, working on evangelism through my articles, activities and my personal perspective and attitude as a person, in terms of being a Catholic. Jesus gives us the key to being disciples: to love God and love one another as yourself. How are you continually working towards Sainthood?
Today's Reading states: 'Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints, to those who turn to him in their hearts. Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land. Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; righteousness and peace will kiss each other. Faithfulness will spring up from the ground, and righteousness will look down from the sky. Yea, the LORD will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before him, and make his footsteps a way' (Psalms 85:9-14).
Today's reading talks about God's salvation for all people. All people are called towards God, to seek God and both love and be loved. Not only are we called to a life of faith, we are called to live out our lives in the best way we can, to do everything we can to seek Sainthood, to become the best version of ourselves. It's important to always think of the acronym w.w.j.d, what would Jesus do? If we were all seeking Sainthood, trying to be the best version of a disciple as we can be, think of how great the world would be. Take some time to ask God to help you strive for Sainthood.
Today we pray:
Thank You for helping me in my daily life to grow closer to You. Let me continually try to seek Sainthood, and help those around me to do the same. Show me the joy in my faith in every move I make.
I pray this in Your most holy name, Amen.
