What's Your Treasure?

What do you treasure? Gold, jewels, maybe money? Treasure means different things to everyone, from material things of value, to people we hold most dear, to passing moments that are important. For me, I treasure my husband, my family, and any time I can spend with them, along with my faith being at the centre. When living a faith filled life, it's important to not cling to things in our world, such as gold and jewels, but things that will be of importance in everlasting life in God's kingdom.

Today's Gospel states:'"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it' (Matthew 13:44-46).

In today's Gospel, we hear about how when we value our faith life above all else, the things that really matter come to light. Faith, hope and love. In the long run, it doesn't matter how much you own, how big your house is, but how you've dedicated your life to others in love, leading as an example in faith. What are some areas you value possessions above others? Take some time to ask God to help you lose yourself in faith.

Today's prayer comes from 'knowing Jesus' a prayer for focus on God:

Gracious heavenly Father, how I praise and thank You that Your mercies are new every morning and that Your goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life. Help me never to lose sight of the enormous price that You paid on the cross on my behalf and I pray that Christ may remain the centre and the circumference of my life- focus, every moment of the day. I pray that in weakness You would be my strength, in sickness You would be my health, in sadness You would be my joy and in every circumstance of life You would be my blessed hope and the rock of my salvation. And Lord I pray that the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart may always be acceptable and pleasing to You - in Jesus name I pray, Amen
