God's Kingdom Come
What is the picture you imagine when it comes to the word 'kingdom'? I think about first the place itself, like a paradise, peace, everything you could need. Next, you look to the idea of kingship itself. Here, I think of the Lion King, with the lion being the head of a pride, keeping a careful eye on the land. When we look at the kind of Kingdom Jesus tells us about in his parables, it's something similar to this, but completely different. We cannot know what God has in store for us, as we are not all-knowing. God has seen our past, present, and future before we we're born, beyond a single moment in time. We can capture glimpses of the kingdom from Jesus' teachings, but they're nothing more than ideas. How do you picture the Kingdom of God?
Today's Gospel states:'Another parable he put before them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches." He told them another parable. "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened." All this Jesus said to the crowds in parables; indeed he said nothing to them without a parable. This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet: "I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world"' (Matthew 13:31-35).
Today's Gospel talks about the parable of the Kingdom in comparison to a mustard seed. It's like a seed that grows into something beyond our imagination, beyond that of which an artist would have envisioned for their canvas. We may have visions for our lives, but nothing can compare to the plan God has for bringing us into His Kingdom. Take some time to ask God to help you step back and let Him, the ultimate author and one who is all-knowing, take control.
Today's prayer comes from 'Christian TT' a prayer for the coming Kingdom:
Today, Lord, is my day, and I declare that I have rights in God’s Kingdom! It is the day that You have made and I will rejoice and be glad in it. Thank You, Heavenly Father, for the rights I have as a child, born into Your Kingdom. I seek Your face as I live from day to day to worship, praise and honor You, in my thoughts, words and deeds.
Almighty God, it is my prayer that the fruit of Your Word be planted and rooted deep within my heart. As I walk with You, Lord, I pray that the legal rights given to me will be manifested. Health, success, prosperity, peace, happiness and joy are just some of those rights that You have granted through the blood of Your precious Son, Jesus Christ. May the promises of Your Word bring me to the place of glory in Your Kingdom and bring out the best in me.
Almighty God, I pray that the fruit of Your Word be planted and rooted deep within my heart. Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall. But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
When the devil comes in like a flood, Abba Father, the Spirit of God will lift up a standard against him and I will stand and declare that as a child of the One, True, Living God, I have rights in Your Kingdom! As I soak in Your presence Lord, saturate my life with Your provision. Crown me with Your loving kindness and tender mercies. Help me to focus my attention solely on You Father. May I wait patiently for You and be of good courage so You will keep me in perfect peace.

I will be justified by the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart. These mercies I pray, in the beautiful and matchless name of Jesus Christ…SO BE IT…Amen and Amen!
