Don't Let Life Pass You By!
Do you use your eyes and ears to take in the life God has given you? It can be so easy to breeze through life without really taking everything in. I know for myself, it's so easy to just keep moving, get things done quickly and efficiently. However, by just passing through, we miss moments to admire the world before us. We miss the people right in front of us, presenting opportunities to grow and build relationships, instead living long days with the only hope of reaching the end. God points us in another direction, one that teaches us to grow and keep seeking to better ourselves. In order to do that, we need to be open to everything God puts in our way. Are you up to the challenge?
Today's Gospel states:'But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. Truly, I say to you, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it' (Matthew 13:16-17).
In today's reading, we hear about how so many people observe God's will, but don't really keep their head up, their eyes open. They would sit and listen to him teach and preach for hours and still not understand, even his closest disciples. Learning to grow in discipleship means we need to use every tool that God has given us to be faithful, to be His example of love and hope for the world, all starting with Jesus. Do you use the tools God has given you, or let life pass you by? Take some time to ask God to help you use your gifts every moment to glorify God.
Today's prayer comes from 'Unveiled wife' a prayer for treasuring every moment:
Thank You for the gift of life. Thank You for my life and thank You for my husband’s life. I pray we would take advantage of every day we are given to spend quality time together, to love deeply, to forgive often, and to serve You with our marriage. I pray for an extraordinary life. I pray Your will is done in us and through our marriage in Jesus’ name AMEN!
