Face the New Day
Do you find it a struggle to find strength in each day, to get up and face the challenges ahead? We can find strength through God, having hope as we face each day, yet it will be a challenge. Think of a person training for their first marathon. They don't start off ready to run the entire length. They start by short distances, 5km, 10km, varying between distances. Before long, they run their first marathon. In order to keep up with this distance, they need to continue training, eating healthy, and running daily. In the same way, in order for us to be strong as Gods disciples, we need to train ourselves each and every day, through prayer, amending mass, being evangelical, helping others. We also need to be hopeful and positive, taking the chance to face every day as a challenge to love. How do you face the day?
Today's Psalm states:'"Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation." With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say in that day: "Give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name; make known his deeds among the nations, proclaim that his name is exalted. "Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously; let this be known in all the earth. Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel"' (Isaiah 12:2-6).
Today's Psalm talks about how God is our salvation, and that we should trust in God for strength. Only when we face decisions and challenges with joy can we continue to have strength each morning, and hope for the coming day. Just as a runner trains for the run, so we too need to work continuously to better ourselves as disciples, and being people of joy each day. Take some time to ask God to help you to face every morning with joy and hope.
Today's prayer comes from 'Holy Land Prayer' a prayer for Strength, Hope and Faith:
Dear Heavenly Father, as I come before you with my heart heavy, I ask for Your help. I lack hope, Lord and pray that You grant me Your eternal hope. Without You, I am nothing, Lord. Without You, I cannot face these obstacles alone. I am at the end of my rope and I need You to carry me, to lift me in your arms and restore my faith and hope, Lord. Bring me the strength I need to survive and to carry on Your will. I acknowledge that this is not something I can do without You. I trust in you, Lord, and Your will is mine. Amen.
