Love Defeats Fear
Do we live fulfilling lives? Each day when you get home, do you look back and believe you did everything you could? Do you think that in every situation you responded and acted in love? Did you act as God's disciple? For some of us, this could be through doing something as simple as getting up in the morning and facing the day ahead. Do you embrace the challenges God gives to you, or do you roll over and put the covers back over your head? God brings us to life in order to live, to embrace the day and better ourselves through facing challenges. He gives us Jesus, His Son out of such love and hope for the world, and asks us to replicate this love for others. How so you show love?
Today's Gospel states:'Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread. As they were saying this, Jesus himself stood among them. But they were startled and frightened, and supposed that they saw a spirit. And he said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do questionings rise in your hearts? See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see that I have." And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, he said to them, "Have you anything here to eat?" They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate before them. Then he said to them, "These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled." Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things' (Luke 24:35-48).
In today's Gospel, we hear about how Jesus goes before the people, showing them his hands and side, and the bringing the fulfillment of the prophets. He calls the people to witness the joy of the resurrection, the joy of life, being renewed and embracing life. In order for us to be disciples, we need to be living, to jump at every opportunity God presents us with, and look with joy at the future ahead and every moment we're given to live. Take some time to thank God for the joy of the resurrection and the chance to live a life of joy.
Today's prayer comes from 'Christian TT' a prayer for sharing the joy of love:
Everlasting Father, I thank You for the breath of life that I am so fortunate to have every morning and for health, strength, prosperity and favor. Continue to bless me, Oh Lord, and hold me together with Your unconditional love and grace. Spirit of God, let Your glory fall afresh on me and revive me as You have Your way. I will spread Your love with those I am fortunate to interact with. Fill me with power from the heavenlies as Your glory is risen upon me. Allow Your love to radiate through me and present opportunities for me to be of service to others.
Continue to bless me, Oh Lord, and hold me together with Your unconditional love and grace.
Thank you, Abba Father, that you have made me virtuous because of Christ’s perfect redemptive work on the cross. I declare that Your love will continue to guide and direct my path so I can be filled with unspeakable joy and in turn be a blessing to others. Help me to be conscious of all things of You Lord and to graciously share Your grace. These mercies I pray, in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ, my Savior, SO BE IT…AMEN!
