Go With God's Strength
There have been many claims across time as to who God is. People spend so much time trying to find proof and make comparisons with things we know, to who God is. Everything you think you know about God is only a minor, minuscule fraction of truth, as God is beyond mere human understanding and reasoning. However, even though we cannot understand or physically know God, God is all-knowing, all-loving and all-good. God makes us each in His image to reflect this goodness and love on the world. God is so good, that He sends Jesus to the world to bring us redemption, to make justification for sin and give us the chance to change, to seek Him and everlasting life in heaven.
Today's First Reading states:'To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power not one is missing. Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, "My way is hid from the LORD, and my right is disregarded by my God"? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary, his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint'(Isaiah 40:25-31).
In today's reading we hear how there are many ways to describe God, for those who believe and even those who don't. Since God is so loving and good, God gives us hope, and pushes us towards doing good and following Jesus' example in the world. God gives us strength from within and raises us up, not for power, but to shine His light in the world. Take some time to ask God for the strength within to shine His light for the world.
Today's prayer comes from 'belief net' a prayer for power in powerlessness:
Heavenly Father, I pray for Your strength to be renewed in me, a boost of faith to overcome my fears and a splurge of power in my state of powerlessness. Help me to get back on my feet once again and to run the race that is set before me. Amen.
