Open Your Heart

Do you have a secret spot in your room for junk food and candy? You store it all up, hide it away for yourself and munch away in your room, so as not to share it with anyone else under the same roof. We hide things away, secret from the world, hoping that others won't find out, because if they do, they'll want to share, to also take part. We can hide things from people around us, or try our hardest, but God can always see through, see everything. Think of either you significant other, your mother, your friend, someone who always knows from how you act that something is wrong, or that you're hiding something. You can't hide, and why would you want to?

Today's Gospel states:'In the meantime, when so many thousands of the multitude had gathered together that they trod upon one another, he began to say to his disciples first, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. "I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear him! Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows' (Luke 12:1-7).

Today's reading tells us that God's always there, always with us, watching, guiding us along. Nothing is covered, hidden, buried that will not be seen or judged. When you sin it cannot be hidden, it's there, impacts you and those around you. Take some time to ask God help you to open up and to not have to hide your heart.

Today's prayer comes from 'crosswalk.com' a prayer for opening your heart to God:

Dear Lord, help me to cultivate the simplicity of devotion to You. I want You to be my primary ambition in life. I desire to behold Your beauty, and dwell in Your house all the days of my life (Psalm 27:4). Let seeking Your heart be the goal of my life even in busy and stressful times. Help me to be one who seeks after Your beauty. Help me to discover Your emotions and the purposes of Your heart. I want to be a lover of God and thirst after You daily (Psalm 42:1-2a). “Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings” (Psalm 17:8). Teach me how to align my heart with Yours. I recommit myself as a man/woman after Your heart. I choose to seek Your face (Psalm 27:8). In difficult times, open my heart to receive Your revelation. Hide me in the shelter of your tabernacle (Psalm 27:5). Reveal deeply to my heart Your love for me. Rescue me in the midst of difficult circumstances, and bring me into a spacious place (Psalm 18:19). Teach me to enjoy life the way you desire. I choose to be confident in Your love. I am Your Bride. “I love you, O LORD, my strength” (Psalm 18:1). “One thing I ask from the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock... I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD” (Psalm 27:4-5, 13-14). In Jesus’ name, amen.
