Prepare the Way
We have many ideas about how certain came to be. God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. However, many people debate this idea, because according to scientific studies, creating so much, the time for things to grow, takes a much longer period of time, months to even years. However, we also come to terms with the fact that God is outside of time, and so outside of what we think time is. If we have difficulty explaining creation and understanding how we came to be, then what could we imagine will be after we pass from this world? There are mentions of heaven and hell right? Being reunited with Jesus or falling apart. We all hope to be one with Christ in heaven one day, in ultimate perfection. However, what is perception, for it's beyond what the human mind has ever known or will ever see until that point.
Today's First Reading states:'As I watched, Thrones were set up and the Ancient One took his throne. His clothing was snow bright, and the hair on his head as white as wool; His throne was flames of fire, with wheels of burning fire.A surging stream of fire flowed out from where he sat; Thousands upon thousands were ministering to him, and myriads upon myriads attended him. The court was convened, and the books were opened. As the visions during the night continued, I saw One like a son of man coming, on the clouds of heaven; When he reached the Ancient One and was presented before him, He received dominion, glory, and kingship; nations and peoples of every language serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, his kingship shall not be destroyed' (Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14).
This reading tells us an idea of what afterlife will be like, Jesus having dominion over the world, an everlasting kingship that cannot be destroyed. However, like creation, we cannot know exactly how it will happen, or when. God is beyond what we can comprehend and outside of our frame of time. So we know that it is important to prepare our hearts, to be ready and to give ourselves to God. If we cannot know for certain what tomorrow will bring, then we need to work each and every day to do God's will for the world. This means to be close to God, but also help others to see the goodness of God. Take some time today to pray, and ask God to help you be a light for one person, and help them prepare for all of the goodness that is to come.
Today's prayer comes from 'Special Prayers' a Prayer of Allegiance to God's Divine Will:
O God the Most High, O Heavenly Father, I pledge to You my firm allegiance to honor and obey You in all things united to Your Divine Will on earth. I, through the Sacred Blood of Your only beloved Son, the True Messiah, offer You my mind, my body and my soul on behalf of all souls so that we can unite, as one, in Your Heavenly Kingdom to come, so that Your Divine Will is done on earth, as it is in Heaven. Amen.
