Your Grace is Enough
Do you ever have those days that wear you out? Not just tire you, but your mind, body and very will power need to curl up in a ball. Maybe this seems a little drastic, a little dramatic, but I can guarantee each of us has had these days. When you got to work with limited staff, and then additionally two people call in sick. Maybe you have to balance between work, family, all of the extra things. Maybe a good example is Monday mornings, after a long weekend, and having to force yourself back into routine, to wake up and go go go. What is your means of being strong? What is it that you rely on to help you wake up and go those mornings where you feel completely worn?
Today's Gospel states:'At that time Jesus declared, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"' (Matthew 11:25-30).
Jesus tells us that we need to come to Him, all who struggle, labour and have heavy hearts. We are to learn from him, and come to him with our burdens. This doesn't mean come, complain and the keep being worn and unhappy. Come to him, find peace and grace through the Eucharist, and go out changed, find strength through him. There is so much more to life than what appears, the hard job, the struggles are minor. Through faith, you can find hope, find help. I know for myself, daily mass, saying the Rosary, taking time for reflection and prayer can really bring peace, even if it's only for the day. Take some time to ask God to help you when you are struggling and to find a way to find grace.
Today's prayer comes from 'King David' a prayer for finding God's grace:
Dear Lord Jesus, I have You as our great High Priest, the very Son of God, who has came as human and ascended back to heaven to prepare a place there for us. Lord, You understand my struggles, weaknesses and pains. Help me to rise above the things that concern and bother me. Help me to focus on what is eternal above in heaven and not the temporal things on earth.
I surrender the burdens of this world unto You. And I thank You as You will make my burden light and get me through each difficult situation successfully. I will find favour and ultimately victory as I lift my eyes from the problems to focus on You and Your love instead. Thank You that although human love fails, Your love never will. Help me to rest in Your love as I watch You bring out the best out of the tough times in my life.
You will make me a way, Lord!
I thank You I can come, and come boldly to Your throne of grace and find mercy. Most of all, I can find grace – the unmerited favour I don’t deserve, and Your divine strong help when I needed it most. (Hebrews 4:16)
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
