How often do we say "thank You God for all that You've given me"? Probably not often enough right? We tend to ask more than to praise, to seek more than to accept. Do you claim Jesus each and every day as your saviour, as the one who God sent to save you, and save everyone? Or do you become so wrapped up in that school work, that relationship, that video game, that you forget to take five minutes to be thankful for the saving power God has for your life? If God created you and everything you can see, feel, touch, why them is it so hard to say thank you?
Today's Psalm states: 'In thee, O LORD, do I seek refuge; let me never be put to shame; in thy righteousness deliver me! Incline thy ear to me, rescue me speedily! Be thou a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me! Yea, thou art my rock and my fortress; for thy name's sake lead me and guide me, take me out of the net which is hidden for me, for thou art my refuge. Into thy hand I commit my spirit; thou hast redeemed me, O LORD, faithful God. But I trust in thee, O LORD, I say, "Thou art my God." My times are in thy hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors! O how abundant is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for those who fear thee, and wrought for those who take refuge in thee, in the sight of the sons of men!' (Psalms 31:2-6, 15-16, 20).
This Psalm is just one of the few that can help us grasp what it means to worship, to praise. It is first to trust, to put all of your faith in what God is doing, to have faith in God. The next step is to remember everything God has done, and is doing in your life and in the world. First comes faith, then trust, then acceptance. Accept everything God has in store for you, even if you're going through a difficult time, and ask for help in accepting what has passed, and for strength for everything that has yet to pass.Take some time today to say thank you. Ask God to be present in every area of your life and thank Him for all that is to come.
