Get Down, Rise Up
Do you ever have those days you want to flee, to get away from your everyday world and go on an adventure? The desire to escape the trials and worries of your day. What then do you do when you feel the need to escape? Most of the time, this is not God calling you t leave, but more your fear guiding you, preventing you from bearing your cross. Many people run away and never look back, many turn to temptations and earthly desires instead, not putting God at the centre. Where do you turn when you have the desire to flee?
Today's Gospel states:'Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, "Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you." But he answered them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign; but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The men of Nin'eveh will arise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here. The queen of the South will arise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here' (Matthew 12:38-42).
One of my favourite inspirational songs is called "Get Down" by Audio Adrenaline. In it, they talk about how you need a day to get away from the things that drag you down. However, when you have those days, you need to look up, because no matter how many times you fall, or look down, God will always help you to see the bright side, and to lift your head. The Pharisees ask Jesus for a sign, however, a sign mayn't always be as easy to see. We need to give ourselves over to God's control, to keep our heads held high every moment unless it is in prayer and reverence to God. Ask God today to help you keep your head up in every moment you feel down and doubtful.
Today's prayer states 'Prayers for Special Help', a prayer for healing and hope:
I come to you today with a an open heart. I lift up my arms to you and ask you for forgiveness. Lord, Thank you for all the wonderful blessings you have given us and for loving us . Thank you for being there for me at all times. Jesus, I love you. I give myself to you so that you can heal me from all these bladder infections. Please Lord, heal me. I beg you. You make everything possible. You created me and know everything about me. Send your Holy Spirit and lift me up to you so that you can breathe on me and I will be healed. I trust in you, I belief in you, and I love you with all of my heart. God, in Jesus name I ask you for a miracle. Amen
