You Have a Purpose
Do you ever have those days where you feel the world just doesn't understand you? Maybe you're tired and the words out of your mouth just don't make sense. Maybe you have had a clumsy day and you feel like everyone is dreading being around you. We all have those days where we wonder why God put us in our body, with our specific mind. However, each of these personality trait help in making us who we are as children of God, created in the image of God. Therefore, every one of us has a purpose, has potential, no matter our quirks. God made you who you are so you could live and bring others to the fullness of life.
Today's Gospel states: 'As they were going away, behold, a dumb demoniac was brought to him. And when the demon had been cast out, the dumb man spoke; and the crowds marveled, saying, "Never was anything like this seen in Israel." But the Pharisees said, "He casts out demons by the prince of demons." And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every infirmity. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest"' (Matthew 9:32-38).
We all find ourselves asking "who am I and what is my purpose in life?" In this Gospel, the people think Jesus is able to cast out the demons because he is 'prince of the demons'. Could they ever be further from the truth? Jesus' entire life he was a Carpenter's son, one of the lower class. One day he comes out and tells people he knows about God, that he is the way, the truth and the life. Even Jesus' closest disciples questioned him, didn't truly understand. To be people of faith makes us unique, special in God's eyes. He uses us as we are for a purpose. Take time today to thank God for your life and ask Him to help you discover your purpose for fulfilling His love on earth.
Today's prayer comes from 'i-believe' a prayer to know God's will in our lives:
God, you know me better than I know myself. You know my fears and my desires. You know how much I want this. You know how much I will be devastated if this doesn't happen. I know you love me. I know you have a plan for me. Please, Lord, don't let my desires blind me to your will. If this is not within your plan for me, throw up a Brick Wall. Give me an obstacle I cannot get past. Help me follow your will, Father. Give me peace about whatever is to come. If this falls through, I will know it is your hand.
Thank you for loving me,
