Speak with Encouragement
It is important what you say, as God gave you the words to speak. You were given wisdom for guiding and making your decisions. How then do we choose to speak, to act? Think about school and the aspect of a teacher teaching a student. The teacher presents opportunities for the student to learn, to improve. They don't just tell them the answers, or else there would be no possibility of moving forward. The key is to let them learn, improve and experience new things at their own pace and in their own way. We are each called to be like students in faith, learning in our own way and letting God teach the world more about Him through us.
Today's Gospel states: 'And getting into a boat he crossed over and came to his own city. And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, lying on his bed; and when Jesus saw their faith he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven." And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming." But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, `Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, `Rise and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins" -- he then said to the paralytic -- "Rise, take up your bed and go home." And he rose and went home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men' (Matthew 9:1-8).
Jesus forgives this man. He doesn't tell him to walk, but that his sins are forgiven, giving him the love, strength and encouragement to stand and walk. Do we teach others to rise up and give encouragement. We can't tell them to be faithful and what to do. All we can do is show love and support, just as Jesus does for the man in this passage. Try to help others rise today using your words of love.
Today's prayer comes 'Christians TT' a prayer for using spoken word:
I pray that when I cross paths with others, my dealings will not be filled with stress but be amicable, motivated with positivity and professional in nature.
When I speak Your Word Heavenly Father, give it the legal right to come alive in my life and the lives of my colleagues because when the Word and Your Spirit get together, tremendous things happen.
Words can tear down a person and they can also give life. I rely on Your Word inside of me to be continuous encouragement and building blocks for blessing others. I trust also that these words will edify others and always praise You, Sweet Jesus.
