Break the Isolation

Do you ever feel as if you are alone in your struggles? Maybe sometimes you feel like no one around you has the same work motivation, or the same fears, the same business of life. In these instances, we become focussed o ourselves as individuals and less on the world and community around us. We feel isolated and alone in our troubles and worries, like no one could be feeling the exact same way at the exact same moment. How then do we move away from the isolation and trust that we are not alone in our day to day life?

Today's First Reading states:'Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother. To the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in the whole of Acha'ia:Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken; for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort' (2 Corinthians 1:1-7).

In this reading, we see how Jesus is with us always and helps us in all we do, providing hope and comfort for the future. It may not always be easy to trust in Jesus when we feel worried and isolated in ourselves, but even in those times, he helps to comfort us and bring us joy. You know how when other people are crying, sad, you feel heartbroken for them, aching to find some way to comfort them and help them feel better? So too do we share in their joy, their happiness. Jesus shares this with us, whether we are aching or glad and feeling isolated in this life, we are not alone. Take time to welcome Jesus into your world of today.

Today's prayer comes from 'Life with Christ' a prayer for those isolated and oppressed:

Lord, I pray for those who are feeling isolated, lonely, hurt, depressed, and oppressed. I pray for those who feel hopeless. May they reach out their hands and yield their hearts to You, Lord. May they call out to You, “Take my hand.” May You hear their cry for help and save them. I pray You would save them and heal them. Saturate their souls with Your Holy Word. Transform them Lord. I pray they would no longer feel worthless. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!
